Judith had worked for 15 years initially as a clinician in the NHS, then at the University of Nottingham as a Lecturer in the Medical Faculty’s School of Physiotherapy, where her research interest in the management of painful musculoskeletal problems (joints, muscles and ligaments) and a desire to promote the use of the latest evidence in clinical physiotherapy practice led to the opening of EMPC in February 1998.
The last 30 years has seen the clinic grow into one of the most respected clinics in the region, lending clinical expertise to patients with a wide range of age related, activity related, and life related problems, as well as all our local Professional Sports Clubs. Judith and her team have become known for a very special level of knowledge and expertise, working with Leicester Tigers Rugby Football Club, Leicester City Football Club, Nottingham Forest Football Club and Leicestershire County Cricket Club. Further afield, our expertise has been exploited by Premiership Football Clubs including Liverpool F.C, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Middlesborough F.C. as well as many lower league clubs.
We have supported Surrey County Cricket Club, the Football Association (FA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), by invitation, with Research and Development, conducting funded projects for them, contributing to developments in Injury Prevention and Clinical Medicine Standards in Professional Sport, and worked in Partnership with several major employers with Health and Wellness at Work projects, including Walkers Snack Foods Ltd (Pepsico UK), Heinz Frozen and Chilled foods, Brush Electrical Machines, Samworths, Fisher Scientific and The Post Office.
But at our heart, the objective of all our work has been helping with injury prevention, optimising rehabilitation potential and keeping people healthy in their work and lives. We continue to have strong working links with our colleagues in the National Health Service and local Private Hospitals, enabling us to facilitate onward referrals where necessary.
As well as business leadership, Judith has maintained mentoring and professional leadership roles throughout this time, developing the first Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy, at Southbank University, setting a precedent for other Universities to follow, elected as a member of the Council of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, subsequently elected as a Vice President. A strong culture of professional development and membership runs through the entire professional team at EMPC, every member of whom follows a standard of excellence set by the practice leadership. We work hard to ensure that patients of this practice are confident in the hands of Physiotherapists at the leading edge of practice in their profession.
We have a team of experienced Chartered Physiotherapists specialising in back pain, neck pain, joint problems, sports injuries and work related disorders, whose expertise and professionalism has drawn recommendation from GPs, Consultants and other medical colleagues across the East Midlands Counties.
